Cutting Edge Internet Technologies

MIT Projects

MIT Director, Craig A. Piercy

An important component of the Master of Internet Technology Program is the project internship that every student is required to complete. These projects are done in teams of approximately 5 students for clients in business or nonprofit organizations. Each project involves

  • analysis of a business problem or opportunity,
  • design of a web-enabled enterprise application to address the problem or opportunity,
  • actual construction of a prototype application,
  • analysis of implementation issues and
  • presentation of the results to management and the Master of IT students and faculty.

Projects benefit students by giving them extensive experience in project management as well as design and coding of Web applications using the latest technology. The projects benefit their sponsors by providing them with problem solutions at a fraction of the market cost.

Current and past projects include:

  • Intranet Development using VB.Net for Acuity Brands, Inc.
  • Developing a Social Networking site specifically for people with autism for the Autism Society of America Greater Georgia Chapter
  • Building Cirqule.com. An online community for artist of all kinds
  • Creating a Web Interface to allow Sales/Marketing/Finance personnel access POS information for Plaid Enterpises.
  • Networking and job posting site for GSU American College of Healthcare Executives Society
