| When will classes be offered? |
| |
| Classes will be offered every semester for five contiguous semesters. All classes will meet in the evenings, probably from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. They will be scheduled to allow students who work full-time in the Atlanta area to attend. |

| I am an international student. Can I enroll in this program? |
| |
| Yes - you are welcome to apply. International applicants should be aware that since this program is part-time, it does not satisfy the INS's requirement that persons in the U.S. on a student visa be enrolled in a full-time program. |

| I don't have any experience in Web programming or using Web technologies. Can I apply? |
| |
| Yes. Students are required to have taken a course in Java programming before starting classes, so this level of programming experience is required. However, you do not need to be an experienced Web developer in order to apply and be successful in this program. |

| What class(es) will satisfy the Java prerequisite? |
| |
| Incoming students should have basic knowledge of object oriented programming using Java technology. This knowledge can be gained by taking any introductory Java class that teaches object oriented programming concepts using Java technology. Students who have worked as a programmer using Java or C++ are not required to take a Java course but should review Java fundamentals. If the student has extensive programming experience over several years, but not using Java or an object oriented language, they can take an online course to learn the basics of Java and object oriented programming. Students with limited programming experience should take a regular college-level classroom course in Java programming. |

| What is the deadline to apply? |
| |
| We do not have an absolute deadline. We will continue to accept and process applications until the class is full. In order to get full consideration, you should have your application submitted as early as possible. The Graduate School publishes a deadline each year for admission in the fall semester. This deadline is usually July 1. |

| What is the minimum GRE or GMAT score required for admission to the program? |
| |
| At present, there is no specific minimum requirement (this policy may change in the future). While higher is, of course, better, an average or even low score does not preclude acceptance into the program. A low GRE or GMAT score can potentially be offset by high grades and even work experience. |

| What undergraduate degrees are appropriate to apply to this program? |
| |
| ANY undergraduate degree is appropriate. Traditionally, many of the students have had degrees in business, computer science or related areas. However, many successful students have come in with degrees in liberal arts or other areas not related to business or computing. |

| How long does it take to get an MIT degree? |
| |
| Five contiguous semesters or 20 months from start to finish. Students who start in fall semester, 2005 will graduate in spring semester, 2007. |

| How long has this degree been offered? |
| |
| The Master of Internet Technology degree was approved by the Board of Regents in 2001. The degree has been offered as a full-time program on the UGA campus from 2001 through 2004 and has graduated approximately 75 students. |

| What does this program cost? |
| |
| With present tuition rate of $471 per semester hour, the cost is $2,826 per semester for the first three semesters, when students will take 6 hours each semester and $3,297 for each of the last two semesters, when students take 7 hours per semester. The total tuition for the degree is $15,072 at the current tuition rate. Additional expenses will include textbooks. Students are required to bring a notebook computer to class, so the cost of a notebook computer (approximately $1000) should be added if you do not own one. Virtually all software used in the program is open source and freely available. |

| What types of jobs do graduates take? |
| |
| Graduates have taken jobs at IT consulting firms, financial services firms, and other large firms that have a significant online presence. Some graduates have chosen to work for small firms that are developing Internet-related businesses. The jobs involve mostly software development and project management activities. Most graduates see a career track that leads to IT management and possibly CIO as a goal. |

| Why did you switch from a full-time program to a part-time program? |
| |
| There are several reasons. First, due to budget shortfalls, the University had to stop funding the program. By moving the MIT program to Gwinnett University Center, we could offer it as a self-supporting program, We also believe that by offering this program at GUC as a part-time program, we can better meet the needs of businesses and IT workers in Atlanta and surrounding areas. The part-time format also allows better sequencing of courses than the full-time format, thus improving the quality of the program. |
